It is late Christmas Eve and I am sitting in a cabin in the Ouachita National Forest where my two nieces, Avery and Carley, have decided to give it a rest in hopes their sleepy little eyes won’t pry open until morning, and my brothers, sister-in-law and parents are not too far behind.

It’s snowing outside. “Silent Night” is playing on the radio. *FAS Review

Open Book gets a nice review from the nifty folks/friends on FAS (Friday Afternoon Song) here. Thanks Blake!

I haven’t felt very inspired to write lately. I have a new record out (subliminal message: “Buy Open Book here.”) and have been touring with it quite a bit – which has left me little time to put pen to paper.

The McCrary Sisters harmoniously wailing at a Mike Farris show here in town. Sights and sounds of the ocean outside my back door thanks to the generosity of dear friends while performing in Pensacola.

But all of these expressions lose their luster in the wake of my proclivity, my disposition, to sin.

During a concert in my hometown last month, I sang a hymn with a message I learned as a kid: “I surrender all . . .” And as happens when I sing for people I love, I choked up. Attempting to play the remainder of the chorus, I heard two familiar voices from the back row singing . . . Read the full entry here.
